The club was founded over 50 years ago by a group of anglers and nature lovers (Namely; K.Tibbott, T.Johnson, H.Wagler, B.Howard, J.Marshal ,J.Stanford snr. and A.Rhodes.) who were appalled by the condition of the River Tame caused by decades of pollution from the local mills.
Their aim was to clean up the river and encourage the indigenous Brown Trout population to once again thrive so that anglers could fish for them.
Once this was achieved the club turned its attention to acquiring derelict mill ponds and turning them into quality coarse waters and nature reserves which anglers can enjoy to this day.
